Mandi is a Johannesburg based poet who has been writing for 10 years and performing for five years. She is a two time Word N Sound slam champion, co-editor of the poetry collection Home Is Where the Mic Is, and facilitates creative writing workshops to high school students through Word N Sound’s Do Good Inc program.
Mutinta is a Johannesburg based poet, with seven years as a writer and performer. She is a former ballet dance choreographer, and has been facilitating creative writing workshops for four years. Mutinta was long-listed for the 2016 EU Sol Plaatje Poetry Prize.
Elten is a rapper, poet and performing artist for the last eight years, and is based in Rotterdam. He is a member of the hip-hop group Brandwerk, and through Routes & Roots facilitates creative writing workshops and course for the youth.
K-Swift is a California based rapper, poet and educator who has been performing for 22 years. He has been facilitating writing and performance workshops for 20 years. He is a founding member of the hip hop collective New Rap Nation, has appeared in Brave New Voices and has been a published poet from the age of 17.
Eli Fernandes is a multilingual writer who has been performing for the past 6 years. She is the founder of Mama’s Open Mic is San Francisco. Four years ago she began she giving performance workshops and classes, and is involved in empowerment projects aimed at women and youth.
A performer for the past three years, Toby has been a slam and performance coach, and given writing workshops both in the USA and UK. He was also a finalist in the 2015 Roundhouse Poetry Slams.
One of the youngest mentors, Samira Saleh is a writer and slam poet in Belgium since 2015.
Daniel “Blue Saint” Seb is a British poet. He is currently a promoter for Word Up, a creative writing course by Writing On The Wall. Blue Saint is also attends 20 Stories High, a theatre company and charity that has projects that use spoken word, rap, acting and performance.
